NOSY has launched Rubbish Networking. The principle is simple: chat to like minded people whilst litter picking an area of the Isle of Wight.

The first event (at Seaclose Park, Newport) was a hit, with over 25 attendees (and several doggies) attending.

French Franks - the best sandwiches in town 🥪

We started the morning with a tasty bacon/veggie roll, provided by French Franks, and went off in small groups in search of rubbish.

Due to the recent storm (Eunice) there was plenty of rubbish to be found, thanks to the collective effort of the attendees we collected over 20 black bags of rubbish (weighing in at over 60 kgs!), making Seaclose Park a cleaner and safer place.

Betapak (event sponsors) helped us make Seaclose Park a cleaner and safer place 🙌

This event wouldn't have been possible without the support of our sponsor Betapak, who provided the equipment and rubbish collection.

The weirdest items found:

  • Blow up mattress
  • Shopping trolley (don’t worry, Morrisons has been notified)
  • A large plastic panel
  • Tyre
  • Underwear...

Most common items found:

  • McDonald’s packaging
  • Crisp packets

In total, we have 6 of these events planned for 2022. The second event falls on Earth Day (Friday, 22nd April) 🌎 and will take place on Ryde beach.
