01 - THE CHALLENGE
Innovate UK supports high-potential businesses across the country, helping them develop and scale through innovation.
The impact of this work was significant, but not widely understood. Success stories existed, but were not being consistently shared or used to demonstrate value to new audiences.
The challenge was to make this support visible. To clearly communicate how Innovate UK helps businesses grow, and why that matters.
02 - THE APPROACH
The work focused on building a consistent storytelling system.
Documentary-style case study films were developed to capture real businesses, real challenges and real outcomes. Each story followed a clear structure, making complex innovation journeys easier to understand.
Filming took place across the UK, working directly with supported businesses to capture authentic environments and experiences.
Alongside the main films, shorter edits were created for digital channels, helping extend reach and support ongoing campaigns.
03 - THE OUTPUT
A nationwide series of case study films and supporting content.
This included over 20 documentary-style videos, alongside shorter social edits and written case studies, all designed to communicate the value of innovation support.
The content was used across Innovate UK’s digital platforms, including their national YouTube channel, helping amplify reach and visibility.
04 - THE RESULT
Innovate UK now has a consistent body of content that makes its support more visible and easier to understand.
The films help potential clients see how innovation funding and guidance translate into real outcomes, across sectors including sustainability, health, engineering and technology.
By capturing these stories at scale, the work supports ongoing awareness, engagement and access to the programme.
